2025 – The Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation
“This summer, through the generous funding of the Arizona Architecture Foundation, the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation was able to host Eric Romo, a Master of Historic Preservation student from the University of Florida, onsite as our Cultural Landscape Research Intern. This interdisciplinary internship provided Eric with the opportunity to assist in the development of a Cultural Landscape Report for Taliesin West – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – and experience how multiple departments work together to support the shared goal of preserving the site and Frank Lloyd Wright’s legacy. During his internship Eric helped to process an important archive of historic plant nursery financial records and identify these plants in photographs of the landscape and interiors, perform hands-on landscape preservation work, and develop a bibliography on Wright and environmentalism to facilitate continued research. Eric’s work will be an important resource for our Cultural Landscape Report (CLR) and has already been utilized to support scholarship on Wright and environmentally responsive design in the Arizona desert.” — David Wells, Grants Manager, The Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation
2025 – Organic Architecture & Design Archives, Inc.
“This Impact Update summarizes how the 2025 Arizona Architecture Foundation Grant has advanced our Archival Transport and Storage project. The funding has played a crucial role in our efforts to consolidate and stabilize the Organic Architecture + Design Archives’ growing collections at our new Chandler processing center. […] We are deeply grateful for the Foundation’s support. Your investment has strengthened our capacity to steward these culturally significant materials, enhanced the accessibility of Arizona’s architectural history for researchers and the public, and accelerated our efforts to build a central archival hub dedicated to the preservation of organic architecture. ” — Eric O’Malley, President, OA+D Archives, Inc.
2024 – Frank Lloyd Wright Archives, Collections Department Internship Program at Taliesin West, David Wells, FLWF, Grants Manager
“The interns had a great time working with the collections and staying on property. Providing intern opportunities to train the next generation of archivists is an important part of the FLWF collection team’s mission. This would not have been possible without your support. In addition to documenting and inventorying items, filing and administrative duties, the interns were trained in proper artwork handling.”
2023 – Organic Architecture & Design Archives, Inc.
The Organic Architecture & Design Archives received a grant in 2023 to secure essential archival storage supplies for the Susan Jacobs Lockhart Collection. With this funding, they have successfully transferred the collection’s contents into 68 letter-sized, 1 legal-sized, and 3 oversized archival boxes, allowing them to organize materials into record groups and series. The next steps involve further cataloging and transferring documents into acid-free folders.
Additional collection highlights include:
28 binders in progress for photographic prints
Approximately 2,000 drawings to be digitized
A bibliography in progress for the book collection.
This project marks a significant advancement in preserving Lockhart’s legacy. They extend their gratitude to the Arizona Architecture Foundation for their generous support.
