Bob Hershberger Prize

Since 2025, the Foundation has sponsored an annual travel prize to architecture students at The Design School at ASU.

The Jack Peterson Travel scholarship is offered annually in memory of Arizona architect and ASU Professor Jack Peterson. Jack was deeply influenced through his worldwide travel to experience and learn how people, communities, spirituality and architecture intertwine in impactful sacred places, spiritual spaces, and historic houses of worship.

The award provides students with the opportunity to follow a similar journey of personal discovery; visiting selected sacred places, spiritual spaces, and historic houses of worship, experiencing their impactful presence, and understanding how people use them at various times of day, week and year.  Ultimately, understanding and sharing how people, communities, spirituality and architecture intertwine and enrich our lives.
