Earle Florence Architectural Collection
Earle Florence was born in Iowa, raised in Colorado, and made a longtime home in Arizona. He served in the Korean War, and later became a licensed architect. Though he has some architectural training from the University of Michigan, he is largely self-taught. This collection primarily contains architectural plans and drawings from Florence’s career as an architect in Phoenix between 1963 and 2017. Plans are largely residential, with most in the Arizona, but some extending as far as Colorado, Hawaii, Washington, and California. The collection also contains Florence’s artistic journals, which contain drawings and handwritten text. Also included are photographs, papers, slides, and other materials that support his career in architecture.
